Why preventive

Care shouldn't start at the emergency room.

Consider a young professional navigating workplace stress. Without daily management tools, that stress gradually turns into severe burnout, isolation and anxiety, and only then does anyone call it a mental health problem.

Lebona is built to step in long before that. Just as we invest in preventive physical health through nutrition and movement, we need accessible, everyday preventive mental health. Regular, proactive self-care builds the emotional immunity to handle life's challenges before they become critical.

Crisis support
Getting matched

Three steps, and a real person at the middle of them

We are deliberately not automating this part. A coordinator reading your answers catches things a form never will.

Step one

Complete the intake form

Your country, language, what you'd like support with, a short well-being check, and how you'd like to be contacted. Around eight minutes, one question per screen.

Step two

Care coordinator review

Within 24–48 hours a trained coordinator reviews your answers against the verified therapist pool in your country, and checks whether online care is right for you at all.

Step three

Direct outreach & booking

We reach you on the channel you chose, WhatsApp, Telegram, phone or email, at the time of day you said suits you, introduce your therapist, and arrange payment and the first session.

Because a person does the matching, there is a wait

This service is not for immediate medical emergencies. If you are in crisis, contact your national helpline directly, Ethiopia 952 · Kenya 1190 · Rwanda 116, or go to the nearest health facility. Do not wait for manual matching.

From our founder

Beneath every programme, peace building, economic resilience, education, there was a missing foundational layer: the mental well-being of the people involved.

Lebona began not from a personal mental health crisis, but from years of working directly in social and community development, walking into communities day after day and seeing the same pattern. A person's mental state is the engine behind all meaningful progress. We didn't need to wait for a crisis to start caring for our minds.

Questions people ask first

Within 24 to 48 hours of submitting the intake form. A care coordinator, a trained person, not an automated system, reads your answers, selects a therapist from the verified pool in your country, and reaches you on the channel you chose. If your answers suggest you need help faster than that, we say so immediately and point you at your national helpline rather than letting you wait.

No, and this is the point. Lebona is built around preventive care: therapy and self-help tools are regular self-care practices, like exercise or nutrition, not emergency measures. A large share of our users come for stress management, burnout prevention and personal growth. The intake form asks explicitly whether you're seeking proactive self-growth or clinical support, and routes you accordingly.

Ethiopia, Kenya and Rwanda, with matching in English, Amharic, Kiswahili and Kinyarwanda, plus Afaan Oromoo and Tigrinya within Ethiopia. Use the country selector in the header to set yours; it decides which therapist pool your coordinator draws from and which crisis helpline we show you.

Through the local channel you already use: Telebirr or a bank transfer (CBE, Awash) in Ethiopia, M-Pesa in Kenya, MTN Mobile Money or Airtel Money in Rwanda. Payment is arranged directly with your coordinator once you've been matched. You send a screenshot or transaction ID, we confirm it, and the session is booked. Full details are on the fees and payment page.

Your intake form is read by one care coordinator and the therapist you're matched with, and by nobody else. Nothing is shared with family, employers or your community. Because matching is manual, we tell you plainly in our privacy notice that a human reviews your answers. That is not hidden in a clause. The only exception is the one every clinician carries: a serious, immediate risk to life.

Every therapist is verified against their national body before joining the roster: the Kenya Counsellors and Psychologists Board, the Ethiopian Ministry of Health, or the Rwanda Allied Health Professions Council. We check credentials directly with the issuing institution and require ongoing supervision.

Everything here is built for a weak connection. The self-guided tools work offline once loaded, worksheets download as small PDFs, sessions can run over an ordinary phone call, and coordinator contact happens on WhatsApp, Telegram or by phone, whichever costs you least.

Take the first step

You don't need a crisis to deserve support.

Eight minutes of questions, or one free breathing exercise. Both are a legitimate place to start.
